Locally, here at Grace we continue to financially support Jeremy Kunkel who is one of our own members. He serves with Engineering Ministries International as a drafter/CAD co-ordinator based in Colorado.
We support BJ and Rachael Whitaker in Spain and Janice and Lamar Stolzfus at Rift Valley Academy in Kenya. .All these families are part of the Global Ministries of the E.C. church.
The Sunday school classes (along with help from the general church budget) continue to support three additional families who are also missionaries with the E.C. church. They are Robert and Bettina Schaeffer (NYC with LIFE- Living in Freedom Eternally), Dave and Conce Roof (Brazil), and Dan and MaryLynne Wills (Wycliffe in North Carolina).
The objectives of the Adult Missionary Fellowship at Grace E.C. church continue to be:
a. To stimulate total church involvement in missions
b. To encourage missionary service through-out the world
c. To foster prayer participation for out-reach by the entire congregation
d. To conduct programs of missionary education
e. To effect sacrificial giving to outreach as directed by and through the Global Missions
Mission Trip to Mexico… Reba Hoffman is the contact person
Mission Mazahua, located about 2 hours northwest of Mexico City, was started over 30 years ago by Reba’s parents (Lisa and Norberto Cortes) to provide social services along with the gospel message to the indigenous Mazahua people of the area. Their main outreach, Excelencia Mazahua, teaches people a trade so that they can become self-sufficient. Skills such as stained glass making, pottery, rug making, baking, etc. are taught. At the camp they hold retreats and employ many of the Mazahua men and women to help run them. They help the community by helping to build houses for widows, cisterns, give scholarships so students can continue their education and they are helping build micro-enterprises that help men and women start their own business. All this is done in the Lord’s name and for HIS glory!
Reba would like to invite you, Grace Church, to join her in a mission trip August 1-8 to Mexico … if you are able to pick up a shovel, you are welcome to come… youth, men, women, families. This will be a work trip to help build a much needed cistern for a needy family. We will also help run a day camp with the ‘Special Friends’ program for those in the area with disabilities. The possibilities of work are endless so we will have plenty of opportunity to serve. There are also different sites to see… the market right outside the mission walls on a Wednesday, worship at the local church, maybe even a day of sightseeing at the local tourist towns. Cost is $400 participation fee plus airfare. Reba is monitoring airfare costs and trying to get the best price. (Approx. $500-$750 round trip) The $400 fee will cover room and board, ground transportation, meals in transit from the airport in Mexico City and back, purified water, administration costs, tips and fees. PRAY PRAY PRAY and see if God is leading you to Mexico this summer!?!
